STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: A Day On The Town

Summer is both my favorite and least favorite season, but I have valid reasons for both. It is my favorite because it means I get to go home, reunite with my friends and no school. However, dressing for summer is the reason for any stress I have during the season. I have very few summer clothes because my love for fall clothes dominates my closet as well as my clothing budget every year. So, every once and a while, when it really cools down for about a week, I get the chance to pull some of those cold weather layers out, much like this Fashionista did.

Much like myself, this Fashionista was spending the day walking around a shopping complex near my town, spending a few hours enjoying a nice cool day off. I noticed that her outfit was simple and cute, perfect for the occasion of browsing through racks of little boutiques and small chain stores. Capris, a tiered tank top and a jacket all in a fairly neutral color scheme gave her the chance to bring color into the outfit with a cute cross-body bag and cute boho inspired shoe.

I am truly a believer in the saying ‘less is more’. I think that when dressing for a day to walk around town, it is important to keep accessories and layers light, as well at clothing loose and comfortable. If you aren’t comfortable in what you’re wearing for a couple of hours, the experience of looking through other clothes or shops can quickly be ruined. I also tend to keep my actual clothing fairly simple. I keep away from patterns and colors that are loud in the event that I pick up a cute new necklace or scarf that could really add to the rest of my outfit. I generally keep my clothing neutral, so that I can really play up color and style into my accessories.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “On days when you know you’re going to be on your feet for a long time, making the right choice in clothing is just as critical as making your choice in shoes. They can make or break the experience if your aren’t comfortable, so choose wisely!”
