STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: '90s Nostalgia

While it may be summer, it doesn’t always feel like it. The last few days especially have been chilly. With unpredictable summer weather, it’s best to have a light sweater or jacket on hand in case it gets breezy. It can also get chilly in the air conditioning. This Fashionista’s slouchy open cardigan is the perfect layering piece for those in-between days.

Open cardigans are my favorite because they’re almost as comfy as a favorite worn-in sweatshirt but a lot more stylish. It’s easy to throw one on over a summery look in case you get cold. This long cardigan provides an interesting contrast with the high-waisted short-shorts and crop top. The silhouette is a bit unexpected which makes it interesting. It’s always fun to play with proportion when getting dressed. The laid back look is ’90s-inspired, which is definitely coming back in style this season.

This Fashionista’s high-waisted shorts and crop top combo is a classic summer look. Crop tops are best paired with something high-waisted to make up for the shrunken proportion. These light blue jean shorts have a cool button-down detail. Button front denim skirts and shorts are making a huge comeback this season and have a ’70s feel.

A simple black choker necklace and gray Converse add to the ’90s vibe. Chokers have seen a huge resurgence in the past couple of seasons. They’re a trendy alternative to the classic statement necklace.
