STYLE ADVICE: Grayscale

Also known as a flight jacket or bombardier jacket, the bomber jacket has been a trend item in the past year. It was originally created for use by pilots for its warmth, now it has been worn for different styles on multiple occasions. Thin bomber jackets can be worn during the spring or summer as a light jacket, whereas thick bomber jackets can be layered with hoodies for this cold and rainy winter in Davis. Bomber jackets have been my personal favorite as it can be drastically different based on how it is made. Ones made with a satin fabric outer always give off a rather elegant vibe whereas other jackets with a quilted fabric outer can be worn more for daily casual wear.

This Fashionisto’s hoodie plus bomber jacket combination reminds me of John Elliott’s S/S 17 menswear collection. His signature look typically includes the layering of a hoodie with other jackets. Having the color scheme in a grayscale is also one of his signatures. This Fashionisto wears a charcoal gray, long T-shirt under a heather gray hoodie, pairing them with a black bomber jacket, a pair of black jeans, and a pair of white high top converse sneakers. The black bomber jacket and black jeans help tie the whole look together. And the pair of white sneakers adds a nice touch of freshness to the overall, rather gloomy, look.

The layering of the different gray colors is done beautifully in a monochromatic manner. If a pop of color is desired, a rather light or muted colored accessory, such as a beanie or scarf, can be worn to help transition to the spring season.
