STYLE ADVICE: Being Original

As the holidays crept up on us, shoppers were eager to find the perfect gifts for their loved ones. This outdoor shopping center was full of friends and family carrying presents from store to store.

California, the usual sunny spot of America, has been experiencing some chilly days. As I was shopping, this girl caught my eye. She was wearing something completely different from the crowd of Nike, Forever 21, and H&M.

With the small rays of sun, this Fashionista was able to keep warm and still have the fresh California style. She mixed fabrics by wearing a velvet crop top and a corduroy skirt. Her clear plastic covered shoes added shine to her ensemble. This Fashionista is full of adventure and needs a bag to pack her many necessities, but still ooze with personality.

In addition, her cheeky accessories and mix of fabrics spoke volumes for her daring and quirky character.

The Fashionista said that her sense of style comes from shopping at thrift stores. At thrift stores there is an abundance of different styles spanning the decades. She does not want to conform to society and wears what she feels confident in. Fashion is all about expressing oneself. Through fashion we have the ability to change how we are perceived by society and ourselves. Having the luxury to redesign your appearance everyday can ignite the creativity that society suppresses. In a glance, your outfit is able to show a stranger who you are. So don’t be afraid to mix colors, fabrics, accessories, and makeup to create your ensemble. Free yourself from society’s “don’ts” on style and be original.
