STYLE ADVICE: Basics with an Edge

The basics are essential to any wardrobe, especially with a busy college schedule. When life gets hectic, it gets even more difficult to put an outfit together. Still, the basics are necessary and can create a variety of looks. I’m talking about some black booties, a pair of jeans, and a black jacket. With this trio, you cannot go wrong. Still, I have found myself in a rush, looking through my staple pieces, and thinking they are still not enough. I know many of us get in this boat and feel stuck with our clothes being too basic in a time crunch. We want to spice it up and have a creative edge, but in that moment we are out of ideas. Fortunately for us, I found a Fashionista who’s putting all our favorite pieces together perfectly.

With so many trends constantly coming and going, it’s hard to keep up. Luckily, a good pair of jeans never go out of style. This Fashionista added some edge, by trading out traditional jeans for a ripped pair of boyfriend jeans and styling them with classic black booties. Her black sweater adds in a current trend with the cozy turtle neck. Lastly, the black jacket ties it all together and adds an extra dimension with the leather sleeves and button details.

I love this look because it so simple to create and so versatile to wear for any occasion. This look is perfect for the classroom, running errands, or grabbing a casual bite to eat with some friends. To doll it up, you can pull your hair up and show off some statement earrings, add a small clutch, or throw on a dark lipstick for a pop of color. The possibilities are literally endless.

However you decide to style your favorite staple pieces, I hope you take inspiration from this Fashionista and feel confident the next time you’re in a rush.
