Operations & Production Intern

Caroline Z Hurley is a home-ware company based in Brooklyn, NY. Caroline produces all of her products using the cottage industry and has direct relationships with each of her manufacturers. Through her network of skilled manufacturers she works with block printers in New Bedford, ceramicist in North Carolina, quilters in New Jersey and weavers in Peru, Guatemala and Mexico.

As an intern at CZH, you’ll gain a unique insight into the day-to-day operations of a successful homeware company. We are a small, passionate company, dedicating to supporting the work of artisans in the US & abroad. Working in a fast-paced environment, you’ll have the opportunity to experience all sides of the business, from production & operations to marketing & events, across both wholesale and retail. We want our interns to become an integral part of the business, be able to grow and learn within the company and contribute to our success. We don’t take ourselves seriously but we do take our work seriously and we’re looking for dedicated, reliable interns who are able to take initiative and work independently. We’re more interested in getting the right fit for our team than someone who has all the ‘right’ experience.

As an operations & production intern, you’ll work closely with the production and logistics managers to produce seasonal collections.Assist in Inventory/Quality Control and Management. Will Gain insight with the entire production process, from design to production to fulfillment. Opportunity to visit production workshop in New Bedford, MA and see production first-hand.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring and fulfilling customer orders.
  • Following up with production issues.
  • Managing shipping & logistics for all customer orders.

 
Requirements:

  • Extremely organized and detail-oriented
  • Strong time management skills and ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Must be able to troubleshoot and problem solve independently, think creatively and provide fresh ideas.
  • Ability to work within a fast-paced environment and bring positive energy to the team.
  • Currently a college student or recent graduate (marketing major or similar preferred)
  • Located in New York City
  • Available to work at least 2 days/week for minimum of 3 months.
  • Experience with MS Excel, PowerPoint and Word, proficiency in Excel and Photoshop a plus
  • Spanish speaker a plus
