How to Get Involved On and Off Campus

I’m sure we can all relate on how busy our lives are in college and you’re trying to balance work, school and play. But let’s not forget we are still in college and now is the time to get involved, meet, and connect. These past three years have really taught me a thing or two about the importance of getting involved. So here are a few of my tips on how to make the most of your time on and off campus:

1. Attend your school’s homecoming game. Every fall my university celebrates a week of homecoming. The week is filled with a pep rally, alumni lunch, awarded dinner, a parade, and my personal favorite a carnival. Oh and of course the game (GO BULLS). So check your schools calendar to see what upcoming events they might be having! (Photo via @melissaepifano)

2. Go to your school’s sporting events.
The best way to get into the school spirit is to attend a sporting game. Cheer on your school’s team in the student section, it’s great way to meet people and bond over the best of the things — your favorite team! (Photo via @baileychupein)

3. Take advantage of that student ID. Not only does your student ID get you into your school’s sporting events but it can even get you free stuff. Search nearby your college to see if any restaurants, museums, movie theaters, etc. give discounts with a student ID. They usually do. (Photo via @chllloooooe)

4. How to get the invite. If you really like free stuff and going to free events then you’ll love this “pro” tip. What I didn’t realize was a thing till my sophomore year was that student apartment complexes give out free food, t-shirts with their logo on them, and other really cool things. Then they even throw parties to get people out and interested in living at their apartments. (Photo via @mariarcola)

5. Go to the gym. Usually universities have school gyms for all students to use. If you check the your school’s website they sometimes have options to take a workout class with other students. Not only is it a great way to stay healthy and in shape, but you can also make friends. (Photo via @sarahdewald)
