Lucky Girl Syndrome 101: What To Know About The Viral Manifestation Technique

When I typed the letters l-u-c into my YouTube search bar, “lucky girl” was the first suggested search in my browser. In December 2022, creator and influencer Laura Galebe gained viral attention after circulating the term “Lucky Girl Syndrome” on her TikTok page. The 22-year-old claimed in a GRWM video that by repeating affirmations such as, “great things are always happening to me unexpectedly,” she was able to foster “lucky” energy into her life and reap good fortune on a daily basis. This is what it means to have “Lucky Girl Syndrome” — or “LGS” — to believe that everything in your life is attainable through delusive amounts of optimism, no matter how “far-fetched” the ambitions may seem.

So if you are wondering how to bring Lucky Girl Syndrome into your daily life, check out my guide to understanding LGS for what it really is — the law of attraction and the law of assumption.

Old schools of thought and religions worldwide, including Buddhism and Christianity, offered manifestation-esque teachings long ago. However, it wasn’t until the 19th century that the term “Law of Attraction” was coined by Russian mystic and author, Helena Blavatsky, and circulated throughout Western schools of thought. According to thelawofattraction.com, the law of attraction can simply be defined as “like attracts like”. This concept suggests that what you project into the universe will be mirrored back unto you. While the theory may seem easy to usher into your life, it can become quite difficult to continuously believe that your wildest dreams are achievable simply by believing in the notion that they are.

More directly related to LGS is The Law of Assumption, which according to thelawofattraction.com, is the act of “assuming that something is the case.” In essence, this means adjusting your behavior to mirror the fulfillment of a desire or manifestation, before it even is fulfilled. For example, if you’re like me and wish to be employed in New York City after graduating, you would change your lifestyle to mirror that of an NYC dweller! The law of assumption teaches that by functioning as if a desire is already yours, you will shepherd your dreams into your reality.

InStyle defined manifestation as “putting your intention towards something that you hope will happen, then watching it happen in real life.” Manifestation is the process of actively thinking about your desire and trusting that the odds, whatever they are, will be in your favor. For context, think of the laws of attraction and assumption as the energetic forces behind what makes your manifestations come to life.

Celebrities such as Ariana Grande, Jim Carrey, and Will Smith have opened up about using manifestation to reach success in their respective industries, but what exactly does manifestation look like? Luckily, there are very few ways to manifest incorrectly, as the practice is highly subjective and introspective.  Below are five ways to use manifestation like a Lucky Girl in 2023!

1. RECITE AFFIRMATIONS DAILY

By now I’m almost positive that you’ve heard of affirmations — or positive phrases repeated with the hopes to stimulate energy, influence positivity, and bring goals into fruition. An affirmation that I recite daily is, “ I am deserving of the life that I desire,” an appropriate chant to attract LGS! Create your personal mantra by reciting multiple affirmations when you wake up in the morning, in front of your mirror as you get ready for the day, or right before bed.

2. INCORPORATE “SCRIPTING”

Scripting is one of my personal favorite manifestation techniques. This activity is extremely simple, you only need a pen and a piece of paper. All you have to do is write about an experience that you dream about as if you are already living in that truth. Keeping in line with the NYC example, the person looking to move to New York may script something like this: “I am in love with my new apartment in the city of my dreams! I’ve made new friends in this city, learned how to ride the subway, and experienced good vibes since moving here! I’m so happy that my wildest dream has now come true!” Despite whether or not you’ve officially made it to the Big Apple or not, scripting will help align your intentions with those of the universe.

3. UTILIZE PLAYLISTS

Using playlists to manifest your dream life is one of the most creative methods to do so! It’s as straightforward as it seems, you can create playlists that either help you foster positive energy or that are aligned with your specific manifestations. When preparing to move to New York, you may curate a playlist that exclusively contains artists from NYC or songs about the city, such as Jay-Z’s “Empire State of Mind,” or Taylor Swift’s “Welcome to New York.”

4. PRACTICE GRATITUDE

Practicing gratitude is extremely important to consider when trying to manifest. In order to receive all that you desire, you must be grateful for what you already have. It is vital that you are gracious in your current state before expecting to be rewarded with what’s next. Practicing gratitude can be as simple as acknowledging what you have been fortunate to receive so far in life, and handling those items with the utmost care and grace.

5. ADOPT AN OPTIMISTIC MINDSET

Lastly, you must welcome optimism into your life at all times. Being a “lucky girl” is only realistic if you truly have a “can do” attitude. When you doubt that your goals are realistic, so will the universe. It’s up to you to take control of your life and recognize that the world is your oyster. You are in control of your own destiny through the power of your mind!
