Holiday Dorm Décor to Turn Your Room into a Winter Wonderland

December 14th, 2018 at 5:00pm

Moving out of your family home can be tough. And during the holidays, it gets even tougher. It’s true, you most likely won’t be able to fit a full-size Christmas tree or use real candles for a menorah in your dorm room. But, you can still show some holiday cheer by decorating your room with mini versions of your favorite decorations, like a mini Christmas tree, twinkle lights, flameless holiday candles, and cozy pillows and blankets. No matter what holiday you celebrate, there’s no reason to miss out on that “home for the holidays” feeling, even if you’re not at home. Try these holiday dorm décor hacks for the winter wonderland aesthetic that makes December so special.

Make Your Mini Tree Personal

You can pick a real mini Christmas tree from most Christmas tree lots or buy an artificial one from Amazon. It’s super fun to use different ornaments that are personal to you and your roommate to decorate the tree. Plus, decorating the tree together is the perfect roomie bonding activity.

Add Holiday Dorm Décor with Sparkly Fairy Lights

Little fairy lights are probably one of easiest ways to transform your room into a winter wonderland for the holidays. You can order this battery-operated set of lights from Amazon and have them sent straight to your dorm room!

Cozy up with Festive Pillows and Throws

Another easy way to make your dorm room a little homier for the holidays is to swap out your decorative pillows for holiday ones. Target and Home Goods both have affordable options when it comes to cozying up for the best time of year.

Bring on the Holiday Candles

There is literally nothing better than a decorated room and a lit holiday candle. Light your favorite holiday scent to instantly create a comfy, cozy vibe. Plus, they’ll make your room smell amazing. If real flames aren’t allowed, you can still perfect the art of holiday dorm décor with fake candles.

Turn up the Holiday Music

While this isn’t necessarily holiday dorm décor per se, it’s probably the easiest way to incorporate the holiday spirit. Check out Spotify for an extensive list for holiday playlists and turn up the volume! After all, nothing puts me into the holiday spirit quite like Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You.”
