FASHION FROM ABROAD: Rocking the Kimono

As soon as I arrived in Brazil, I heard about this new store that had opened at Oscar Freire Street. This street can be considered the Fifth Avenue in New York or Newbury Street in Boston. This store has a little side “open” street that, when the weather permits, they expose some of their pieces. Of course, I decided to go check it out and hoped that I would run into some Fashionistas/os there. I have to say, I was not disappointed!

Let me just start by saying: what is there not to love about kimonos? They are breezy, comfortable, casual and add a boho feel to every look they are a part of. Plus, you can wear them with basically anything and in basically every occasion (probably not a wedding). Also, they are the perfect piece to keep you warm on those breezy summer days.

I spotted this Fashionista, rocking her kimono, checking out some of the amazing pieces exposed on this side street. Even though the main color of her outfit was black, she still managed to keep a summer feel to it because of the distressed shorts, the kimono and the sandals.

This Fashionista created the base of a super stylish outfit based on very simple pieces. A black tank top, that I am sure every girl owns; and denim shorts, that are a must during summer! For a special boho touch, she topped it off with this beautiful fringed kimono. Fringes and kimonos are super in right now and she managed to work both into her outfit! For shoes, she opted for platform sandals, which are a great pick if you want to wear heels and still be comfortable. However, if you want to take comfortable to another level with this outfit, you can drop the heels and wear espadrilles – they are perfect for the summer and go with everything.
