FASHION FROM ABROAD: I’m Leuven It

Spending time abroad has influenced me in so many unexpected ways. Even though I’ve only been in Belgium for about a month, I’ve seen and experienced such an influx of new and exciting things. The people, architecture and food are absolutely fantastic and the fashion is better than anything I could have imagined. I’ve even noticed that I’m a lot more confident about my own style choices as my taste develops. I’m loving the boxy jackets, black jeans and trendy sneakers I see all around me.

For the next semester I will be living in a small town called Leuven, which is just 20 minutes outside of Brussels. It is a fun area filled with countless chocolate shops, bars and a surprisingly large collection of trendy stores and boutiques. I’m looking forward to exploring each one with the friends I make in my program.

I spotted this Fashionista on one of the smaller streets just outside of the city center. She is perfectly dressed for the unpredictable weather which can go from sun to hail before you finish your waffle. Her navy jacket caught my attention because of its gold zipper detail which adds something unique to such a basic piece. This Fashionista paired it with a floral dress, leather trimmed leggings and short back rain boots which keep her outfit practical. She shows us how to effortlessly mix patterns by tying her look together with a paisley scarf.
