INDUSTRY 101 – The Cut

There are so many opportunities in the workforce for people with all kinds of talents and skills. This month, we chatted with three rockstars at The Cut with varying jobs to learn a little more about what makes them tick.

5-3

Name: Diana Tsui

Position: Senior Market Editor

What does your job entail at The Cut? As a market editor I get to scout the latest cool designers and find the best clothes and accessories that our reader would want to buy. I try to attend as many market appointments with brands as possible and then at the office I’m scouring the web to find new labels that our reader would love. I’m usually writing up slideshows that cover a theme whether it’s chic outfits for the office or fun workout clothes that you can buy on Amazon. I’m also a major street style nerd and I love covering the entire circus.

The first thing I do when I wake up in the morning is…check my email, feedly, Instagram and Twitter in that order! I need to know what’s happening and I feel anxious if I’m not at least skimming through it all. I do this on weekends and even on vacation. It gives me peace to feel connected to the world.

One thing I never leave the house without is…besides my iPhone I always need lip balm of some sort. I always feel as though my lips are chapped.

Right now I could really use…a haircut! My hair grows really fast and it takes on a life of its own.

1-3

Name: Maggie Lange

Position: Associate Editor

What does your job entail at The Cut? I write articles. Mostly they are pretty goofy and short, but sometimes I will get serious and write something longer. It’s a great mix.

The first thing I do when I wake up in the morning is…make coffee, perfectly burn some toast.

One thing I never leave the house without is…a book or magazine, my keys, my trusty 2005 iPod.

Right now I could really use…a Le Creuset dutch oven.

One thing I never leave the house without is…hand cream.

Right now I could really use…coffee!
