ALL IN THE DETAILS: Stack ‘Em Up

Throughout my various posts here on CollegeFashionista, I have an ongoing trend where all my Fashionistas rock Alex and Ani bracelets. I never noticed that this was a reoccurring trend (until now) so I decided to finally dedicate a whole blog post to these cute little bracelets and a trend that is all over the Internet—layering jewelry. Something that I love about bangles and just bracelets overall is that each bracelet has a story or a meaning. The best part about jewelry is that you can spice up a simple outfit by just adding a few things here and there, but layering and stacking has been a trend that I have had my eye on for a few years.

I remember about four years ago the “arm candy” trend came out and it was EVERYWHERE. Instagram was full of arm candy hashtags, Tumblr bloggers were beginning to dedicate their whole lives to this trend and it is still a trend to this day. I have always loved stacking and layering jewelry because it combines uniqueness with creativity and style. Since I stack all my bracelets up on a daily basis, I thought it was perfect to dedicate this blog post just to the trend.

For my Fashionista, her Alex and Ani charm bracelets show her first initial, a Fleur De Lis and a UCF logo for our college (Go Knights!). My Fashionista goes on to stack some super cute bangles on her right arm as well—a Bourbon and Boweties one, a druzy detailed one and a simple but adorable arrow one as well. These accessories compliment her burgundy sweater dress and black booties perfectly because they give a pop of class and uniqueness to the simple look.

How To: What’s the best part about this look? You can recreate it in any way you would like! Stacking can include bracelets and necklaces (even anklets if that’s your style) so it can be recreated with anything you have in your wardrobe! For bracelet stacking, start off with a main piece and work around it like my Fashionista did with her Bourbon and Boweties bangle. For necklace stacking, begin with a simple necklace and layer more simple necklaces on top, or start off with a statement necklace and add some dainty necklaces around it. Remember—jewelry can either be an accessory to your outfit or the focal point of it. Just have fun with it, don’t be afraid to experiment with new styles and don’t forget to rock whatever you decide to wear because life is your runway!
