STYLE GURU STYLE: Denim For Days

I remember how comfortable my long denim overalls used to be. A sweet Winnie the Pooh iron-on stuck to the front pocket of my outfit, along side my crooked pigtails and just like that, I felt unstoppable. Over a decade later, there are no ponytails or cartoons on my denim staples, but I’ve still got my overalls and my confidence.

Tommy Hilfiger and Ralph Lauren. Two well respected designers who have mastered the art of traditional, American clothing. Or at least that’s how I associate them in my head. As a girl who is madly in love with her denim I have those few designers who I keep stored in the filling cabinets of my brain that I can trust to produce the perfect denim anything. I must admit that my knowledge may not be too extensive and for this I must personally send my apologies out to Tomas Maier. I came across his 2016 resort line and quickly became inspired by his pieces.

Tomas Maier’s line is beautiful and simplistic all tied together in one. There is a look in his collection that includes a denim capris and a denim jacket with a white and black T-shirt underneath. This outfit looks so effortlessly chic that it made me want to rip it off the model to wear for myself. Well, maybe not quite like that, but I did want to copy this vibe Maier is conveying throughout his line.

Trying to achieve this “I woke up like this” look, I centered the outfit around my light washed denim overalls I purchased at PacSun. I then added a staple stripped T-shirt, my white Birkenstocks, a light clutch and fun accessories. After I put it all together I ended up really liking the way all the pieces put together made me feel. Maybe not 100% like the looks in Tomas Maier’s collection but close enough, right?

Get My Look: 1. Overalls (of course). 2. A T-shirt. 3. Simple sandals.
