STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: California Dreaming

I finally escaped the NYC humidity and took on the West Coast. Ten days later, I’m back home, but exhausted and depressed. I feel like I left a piece of me in LA, so what better way to reminisce than show off some California Fashionistas.

This USC Trojan is emanating the true Cali vibes: chill, comfy, chic. You may think of California as the Sunny State, but once that sun goes down the chills arise. Hence, to protect yourself from the cold in the evenings and fight the heat during the day, this outfit is perfect. A longer crop top allows most of your upper body to breathe, while still keeping you restaurant appropriate. Make it a graphic top and it will spice up your outfit. Throw on some cargo pants that are the perfect fit—snug yet loose—and you can wear this outfit just about anywhere. From brunch at Urth to exploring the LA Art District to BBQing in Beverly Hills, this chill look kept her going throughout the day without having to change.

Aside from the Cali trends this Fashionista is rocking, the color palette and patterns are also on point. She chose to stick to army tones, just sans camouflage patterns. This again follows the chill vibe, but allows you to play with other patterns. Check out her shoes—army tones interlaced with metallics, created into a snakeskin pattern. The shoes balance the solid color of the bag and pants, as well as complement the graphic of the crop top. Add in some stacked bracelets, vintage sunglasses and your outfit is set. All in all, if you’re looking for California-chic you need an outfit like this!

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Comfort is key. You can’t own your outfit if you’re uncomfortable because that discomfort will show in your lack of confidence.”
