WHAT TO WEAR: Celebration

Though it’s been a week since the fourth, it’s never too early to do a little re-cap on the coolest red, white & blue looks to get some inspiration for next year, or the rest of the summer for that matter. As long as the sun shines, lemonade stands are strolling around and it’s not frowned upon to eat ice cream at any time of the day, the American independence theme is totally acceptable.

For foreigners like myself, it has become clear that July fourth is not only about celebrating the independence of a great nation (‘Merica), or enjoying gorgeous fireworks, but about RAD sales! As I made my way down the Fifth Avenue of Boston; Newbury Street in hopes of finding good deals, I walked into LF and spotted this week’s Fashionista.

She figured out the perfect way to keep this season’s boho-chic trend alive, while giving it a star spangled banner twist to it. Using single color pieces such as the red strapless top, the blue necklace and the white platform sandals was a very smart move here. It allowed for the statement piece of the look, the flower crown, to stand on its own and pull everything together. Beauty wise, she nailed it! The red lipstick and white nails were the cherry on top to a fourth of July sundae.

One Simple Change: To transform this day time look into a night time one, you only need  a couple changes. Replace the flowers for a more sleek hair-do, such as a tight pony tail or top bun. Take away the necklace to show off your lovely collar bones and neck. Keep the distressed denim going on by putting on your favorite pair of black, cuffed boyfriend jeans. Leave on the red lipstick, and add a a classic black liner cat-eye. Step into pointy black heels , and voilá, you’ve got yourself a whole other RAD outfit!
