STYLE ADVICE: Lemme Upgrade You

I’m here to reassure you Fashionistas that it is okay to wear active wear to class, to campus events, and (if you ask me) just about anywhere else. Athleisure has been a “thing” for a little while now, I was quite unsure as to how long this trend would last, but now I am sure it is here to stay. I mean, even Rihanna and Beyonce are getting in on the trend with their lines Ivy Park and Fenty! That alone has me running (pun definitely intended) to get in on athleisure.

Now, Fashionistas, to do athleisure the right way you have to follow just two simple rules! Firstly, remember to still abide by seasonal trends when wearing athletic wear. This Fashionista did just that by sticking to a monochromatic, olive-green color palette appropriate for the fall and winter. Her main pieces, the bomber jacket and leggings bring cohesiveness to the look. Also, the great thing about these pieces is that they are key wardrobe essentials and can be transformed to create endless outfit possibilities. On to the second rule: accessorize, accessorize, accessorize! One or two pieces of accessories will easily upgrade this look from gym to glam. This Fashionista went all out and accessorized with big gold hoops, a simple gold nameplate necklace, and yellow-tinted sunglasses. And that patched clutch with a pom-pom, I can not get over!

A bonus trick of the trade: if you really want to commit to the athleisure look off of campus, try swapping out the adidas this Fashionista is wearing for heeled booties—think Yeezus. Ditch the backpack and you will be the trendiest girl out on a Friday night.

Not only is it convenient to be ready for the gym at any time, it is simply just stylish and cute to rock athleisure. By the way, you do not even have to go to the gym, if you don’t want!
