STYLE GURU BIO: Mackenzy Cooper

Hello all, my name is Mackenzy Cooper and I am a sophomore at the University of Iowa. I am studying journalism and american studies. One thing that intrigues me about fashion is the history behind it and how it is constantly changing. I love the fashion from the ’20s, ’50s, and ’60s. The classic, timeless style from that time is something that I strive for in my style everyday.

I tend to describe my style as classic, elegant, and timeless. My look is simple with a touch of bold accessories to really add something to my style. I love pieces that can be dressed up or down which makes my style practical for any college student on a budget. Dressing things up with bold necklaces, unique shoes or a bright lip can really add something to the outfit.

My style icons include Audrey Hepburn, Jackie Kennedy, and Kate Middleton. All classy women whose style never goes out of style. The simplicity of their wardrobe with light and bright colors, timeless stripes, and classic heels makes it easy for any admirer to replicate. While I’m not able to afford all of Kate Middleton’s beloved Stuart Weitzman’s wedges or Alexander McQueen’s coat dresses, she also loves affordable brands such as J.Crew and ASOS.

For this look I styled a black and white striped shirt, a beloved pattern by the Duchess of Cambridge, with dark wash jeans. Iowa winter’s are quite chilly so I invested in a pair of black warm boots that look professional. To make this look bold, I added a black and silver accent necklace.

I am so excited to bring readers ways to make their style classic yet practical, bold yet professional, and glamorous yet affordable.
