STYLE GURU BIO: Lora Dolan

Hello! My name is Lora Dolan and I am a senior at Penn State University majoring in public relations. This is my first semester as a CollegeFashionista Style Guru and I’m so excited to share my fashion love affair with all you Fashionistas/os.

I adopted my sense of fashion at a young age from my mom and my grandmother. Since the day I could walk, my mom had me dressing up in little plaid dresses with matching bows. Although I have grown out of my dainty bows, worn to accessorize the look, my relationship with fashion has continued to thrive.

During my junior year of college I was fortunate enough to study abroad in Barcelona, Spain. Walking along the magnificent avenues of Barcelona, my eyes were drawn to all the shopping; I was in fashion heaven. My bank account definitely didn’t like me after living a few streets down from Zara and Brandy Melville but hey, you’re only abroad once right?

After coming home from Spain, I was inspired by the European trends and adopted their style into my everyday looks back here in the United States. I would consider my style to be very versatile. Some days I like to be simple, adding accessories for complexity. Other days I might feel like rocking my laid-back bohemian pants or my edgy leather jacket; I adore it all. While I absolutely love dressing up, don’t be fooled by my attire for class. Just like every other college student, class days equal my comfiest pair of sweats and a baggy T-shirt.

Today’s look includes a button-down flannel top, denim jeans and some black lace-up booties. I kept the accessories simple with my rose gold Fossil watch and Alex and Ani bracelets. I thought the boot cuffs were a perfect touch for the cold, December weather.

As Rachel Zoe said, “Style is a way to say who you are without having to speak.”

What I love most about fashion is the endless possibilities and the ability to inspire others. I am so eager to share with you the diverse style here in good ole Happy Valley.
