STYLE GURU BIO: Lauren Nicholas

Hello my fellow Fashionistas and Fashionistos! I’m Lauren Nicholas and I’m 18 years old. I am currently a freshman at Salem State University majoring in Graphic Design and minoring in Communications, Advertising! The reason why I chose Salem State University is simple: it’s close to home and in driving distance of one of, if not, the best malls in the Northshore. When I’m not spending my money on concert tickets, I take a trip up to the mall and almost always return with bags full of goodies from stores such as Forever 21, Target, Urban Outfitters, American Apparel, Sephora and Kohl’s (LC by Lauren Conrad is to die for).

Having gone to a Catholic school since kindergarden, I was always restricted on what I could and could not wear. I donned either plaid skirt or khakis and, to top it off, an atrocious powder blue button-up oxford shirt. Talk about being a Plain Jane! Now that I’m in college though, I can finally express myself, and I’m hoping to influence some of you readers into expressing yourselves too! Especially all of you curvy girls like me; Do not be afraid to serve up a killer look because you can totally do it.

I would classify my overall style as edgy, but comfortable. I almost always sway towards black and white with a pop of color as opposed to color, color and more color. The majority of my looks, I would say, cater to women of all figures! For example the look featured here is a faux leather motorcycle jacket, a pair of high-waisted black skinnies, a black and white striped short sleeve turtleneck and black boots. My fashion sense is heavily influenced by several celebrities such as Ashley Benson, Rihanna, Cara Delevingne and even Matty Healy. They all exude edge and aren’t afraid to go bold with their choices, which I hope to aspire fully one day.

Overall I am so excited to be a part of CollegeFashionista and have the opportunity to share some of my favorite looks, tips and tricks with you all.

Just a few words of wisdom: if you see someone dressed to impress, don’t be afraid to go up and compliment them, it will definitely make their day 100 percent better.
