STYLE GURU BIO: Emma Conklin

I’ve always expressed my light-hearted personality through the outfits I assemble—and usually those outfits include all things bright, bold and a little out of the ordinary. Ever since I was a tiny Fashionista, it has been important to stand out, and my highly saturated wardrobe is sure to grab attention.

This fluorescent green flare dress is such a fave, especially on cloudy winter days when I need a boost of color to cheer me up! The elbow length sleeves help keep this look professional and comfortable, without the need to layer up while walking to and from class during this unusually mild Wisconsin winter. I paired this piece with a few coordinating chunky floral bracelets, which tie in with the color of the dress and my favorite pink lipstick. The bejeweled earrings allow me to easily express my inner sparkle, but the iridescent finish complements the rest of the ensemble in a trendy, exciting way. To keep this look from being too sweet, if there is such a thing, I kicked it up a notch with these edgy black heels. The soles have insane grip that makes slippery winter sidewalks a breeze, even in platform heels.

For some, winter weather represents muted, neutral tones and layers that start to reflect the world around them. While this approach to winter dressing is classic, I’m here to encourage more eye-catching color choices to cure the inevitable winter blues. There’s no reason to reserve bold and bright outfits and accessories for only the spring and summer months!
