STYLE GURU BIO: Evelyn Dalton

Hello my fellow Fashionistas/os! My name is Evelyn Dalton. I am a sophomore at Texas A&M University Corpus Christi and my plan is to major in nursing. I hope that one day I can help save lives in monogrammed scrubs. My university is known as the “island” university and is known to have a laid back yet stylish kind of style. I can’t wait to show you the wide variety of fashion on my campus!

Fashion and photography have always intrigued me. I use to make fashion and makeup collages from magazine cutouts when I was younger and would always collect monthly issues of Seventeen magazine. I was also an avid That’s So Raven viewer and always so amazed how Raven would make all of her clothes. I tried doing that, but failed miserably.

As for photography, my obsession started when my mom gave me a digital camera for Christmas one year. I quickly became obsessed with taking pictures of inanimate objects at different angles with different lighting. My hobby has developed and I now take pictures of people at different angles under different lighting circumstances for my photography business. I have been doing it for about two years now and I absolutely love it!

One interesting thing about me is that I use to live in Hawaii! It was such a culture shock for this Texas girl but it was a great experience nonetheless. They really embraced natural beauty there, which I admire so much now! Also, I have never seen such clear blue water in my life.

If I’m not studying for hours at a time, I spend my time hanging out with friends, catching up on politics and shopping, especially online shopping; talk about a dangerous addiction! I also have a black miniature Schnauzer named Sam who I love cuddling with, well at least when he lets me cuddle with him. I am also so obsessed with liquid lipsticks; they are so life changing.

My personal style is hard to pinpoint, but I would say for the most part it would be comfortable yet polished. Although, some days I like to mix it up and be a bit edgier or be a bit more girly. I am wearing plaid top and black pants. I paired this outfit with nude pumps, Kendra Scott jewelry and James Avery jewelry to polish up the casualness and to also add more of a feminine touch. I am starting to become so obsessed with plaid button-down shirts, they are so comfortable yet so easy to dress up!

My style has definitely evolved over the years. I must say that when I was younger and more insecure about myself, I would stray from trying new things for my look. I have come to the realization that I am not perfect nor will I ever. I wear what makes me feel fabulous and I think everyone should too!

I am so excited for my first semester as a Style Guru! I am also so excited to show you all my fellow stylish Islanders!
