STYLE GURU BIO: Kara Ng

Hi there, Fashionistas and Fashionistos! Welcome back to another semester of my articles. Unfortunately, this is my last semester being a Style Guru as I am going into my second semester of my senior year. Sounds exciting but also scary to be going into the real world. Putting the negativity to the side, I am super excited to be working with CollegeFashionista again! This rad team has opened doors and offered me amazing opportunities that I wouldn’t have been able to experience without them.

A little ‘about me’: I’m currently a senior majoring in public relations with a focus in fashion and lifestyle. I either want to do PR for a brand, work at a fashion PR firm or work for a magazine. I’ve interned at a fashion PR firm and I really enjoyed myself, and I was also a social media intern for Accessories magazine. One of the best advice I can give is to intern while you can; it gives you opportunities, experience and it’ll help you explore what you want to focus on when it’s time to find a job.

Being a New York City girl, my style has definitely been influenced by watching random people walk past me in the busy streets of the concrete jungle. I must say, a majority of my outfits are black on black, but I love adding pops of color in accessories, as shown in my photos. One of my favorite trends this winter are over-the-knee boots because, being a petite girl, they really help elongate my legs creating the illusion that I’m taller than I actually am. Blanket scarves are everything in winter because they keep your neck warm and cozy, which is a very important part to keep warm in the cold seasons! I don’t know about you, but in the winter I stray away from bigger bags because I already feel so bulky from the millions of layers, so I’m usually sporting mini cross-body bags.

It’s my final semester as a Style Guru so let’s make it the best. Stay warm and drink loads of hot chocolate this winter!
