WHAT TO WEAR: Class

Like most students at colleges in the New England area, the students here at the University of Rhode Island are getting tired of the snow, the ice and the frigid wind. However, the bad weather isn’t stopping everyone from dressing their best for class. I spotted this Fashionista on campus looking stylish. Her look is fashionable and weather appropriate. The military style winter jacket she is wearing is a nice change from the common black parkas we see a lot of these days. The element of her outfit that really caught my attention was her red knit turban hat. This was also a refreshing change from the usual beanies that are so popular.

Once again, it’s all about the layering. When it comes to enduring the cold weather while walking around campus all day, wearing layers is the key to keeping your look fashionable, yet functional. As you can see, this Fashionista has layered a black top underneath a simple gray cardigan and then the military jacket on top. The colors she is wearing work very nicely together. The red hat complements her green jacket and the black boots neutralize the whole ensemble. Her black leather tote is the perfect accessory to bring the whole look together. Wearing the black leather tote with the black leather riding boots makes the green and red complementary colors stand out without overdoing it.

One Simple Change: Going out after class? To take this outfit from day to night, simply swap out the light wash denim jeans with a dark wash pair of jeans for a slightly dressier look. The darker the denim, the less casual your look will become.
