As college students, we tend to give in to the “messy hair and yoga pants” look far too often. Some would say it’s because they don’t allow themselves enough time to get ready in the mornings while others simply feel it’s unnecessary to look presentable when attending class. Well, Fashionistas, let me be the one to tell you: It’s okay for you to dress up for class! According to my mother, who knows practically everything, “when you dress well, you do well.” So why not look your best for something as important as going to class? Why not take the extra time in the morning to express your individuality rather than giving in to the social norm of the “hot mess” look?
This Fashionista has done a fantastic job of styling a look that’s suitable for class and is comfortable to wear when walking around campus. First, she started with a black maxi. Not only are maxis easy to style, but they’re also totally comfortable to wear all day long. She took her look a little further by adding a denim vest with a tribal print detail on the back and a colorful belt around her waist. She accessorized her outfit with a pair of oversized cat eye sunglasses, brown leather sandals and a bracelet. All these items help tie together the bohemian vibe she’s going for while still looking casually chic. Her ensemble is perfect for class because it shows that she has her own individual style, but it’s still appropriate for a learning environment.
One Simple Change: If you want a look that’s more feminine, take off the denim vest and just sport the maxi. Black dresses are timeless and the silhouette of the maxi dress will accentuate your figure better without the vest.
