STYLE GURU STYLE: Sweater (Dress) Weather

Happy fall Fashionistas! Now that it’s getting a little chillier here in New England, I can break out two of my favorite fall pieces: sweater dresses and trench coats. For those of you who have never invested in a sweater dress, it’s time. They will not only keep you warm, but they are the epitome of the saying “cute, but casual.” You can dress it up with heels (or booties, like I chose to do) or wear sneakers to dress it down. Almost any store you shop at will be selling sweater dresses, so I recommend finding one you love and buying it! This sweater dress is from the sale rack of Anthropologie and it’s one of my favorites for this fall.

As for my trench coat, this is my staple fall jacket. A couple of years ago, I invested in this super cute one from J. Crew. It’s perfect for a brisk, fall New England day, and was perfect for exploring the city. This coat is sophisticated and charming and I love to channel my inner Nancy Drew whenever I wear this. Find a lighter jacket, like a trench coat, and make it your go-to jacket for this fall. They are perfect for the transition from summer to winter.

For my shoes, I found these at a local shoe shop in Providence, but booties are perfect for the fall. Booties are amazing to dress up a casual dress (like this one), but they also look great with T-shirts and jeans. I own way too many shoes (but can one ever have too many shoes?), but my four pairs of booties are perfect for the fall. I have some in all different colors and I definitely recommend buying a pair for this fall.

For me, the sweater dress and trench coat is a killer combo this fall and remember, the best time to wear a striped sweater dress is all the time.
