STYLE GURU STYLE: Shades Of Black

Leather jackets are a staple in my closest. Accordingly, I have more than one. There is something about a good quality leather jacket that makes my eyes light up.

When I first saw the Louis Vuitton spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection, its futuristic air struck me. Nicolas Ghesquière’s collection took the brand into the digital age. With moto jackets, mini skirts and bohemian crop tops, his models looked like a fierce biker gang from the future. What I find most amazing about the collection is that although the fabrics looked high-tech they were actually completely natural materials.

Following the queue of Ghesquière, I opted for a leather jacket to emulate this look. I loved how he took a winter piece, a leather jacket and paired it with a mini skirt. I translated this into my look by pairing my leather jacket with high-waisted jean shorts. Being able to mix cool weather pieces with warm weather pieces is something I have always been fond of. To me it adds a bit of curiosity and mystery to a look. This outfit was perfect for a night out in Lima, Peru. I was able to spend two weeks of my winter break visiting the capital city. Nights in Lima are cool, so a jacket is always required.

My wallet also brought in the legendary Louis Vuitton monogram canvas pattern. I kept my shoes simple but black just like Ghesquière’s look. I added a trendy skinny scarf to create some whimsy in the outfit. I finished off the look with a pair of sliver and black sunnies.
