STYLE GURU STYLE: Plum Perfect

Transitioning from winter to spring can be difficult as far as getting dressed goes. It’s still fairly chilly out, which means layers are still a necessity. However, the sun is starting to shine a little more every day, so wearing your wintery black or gray attire seems a little drab. If you’re struggling to make your look appropriate for this winter-spring interseason, Zuhair Murad’s spring 2015 collection has the answer in the form of a perfectly plum shade of purple.

I’m positively obsessed with this collection with its simple yet detailed pieces and easy-to-wear vibrant colors. I tried to mimic this collection by incorporating my favorite color of the collection into an otherwise all-black outfit. This combination of only two colors is reminiscent of the dual-color focus in Murad’s spring 2015 collection. The small details in my outfit, like the buckle on my boots and the furry texture of my scarf, reflect the technical cut-outs and layers in the collection.

It was easy for me to incorporate this seemingly overpowering color into an outfit, especially during this time of year when I’m not totally dressing for winter anymore but I’m not quite dressing for spring yet. I very easily could have worn this dress in black or gray in the dead of winter, and I will wear this dress with lighter and flowier accessories in a month or two. At this point in time, however, this look is a perfect interseason pick.

Get My Look: 1. A pop of plum. 2. A dark lip. 3. A faux leather biker jacket.
