STYLE GURU STYLE: Patterns Galore

Summer is the time of year where we see colors and patterns galore. My go-to summer look this year has revolved around patterned shorts. They are so simple and comfortable, yet make it look like you put in more effort than you actually did. The fit and feel of them make them the perfect go to shorts. They fit every body type and style, and can be dressed from day to night very easily. You can always find me sporting a pair with a unique pattern or color on them during this time of the year.

Taking inspiration from Oscar de la Renta spring 2015 ready-to-wear fashion show, I sported a pair of patterned pink shorts from the Lilly Pulitzer for Target collection. These pink eyelet shorts are comfortable yet super cute. With it, I added a simple light black long sleeve shirt and a pair of tan sandals. For accessories, I added a statement necklace from J.Crew one of my go-to stores to find the best jewelry at. If you look closely at the necklace it almost looks like the stones are shaped like Xs and Os, mixed in with the gold detailing. This added that dressed up element of the look to make it perfect for a day of working or even a date night summer look.

Patterned shorts are something that will never lose trend during theses hot summer months. Cut-offs can just be too much some days; these shorts with their versatility can be the substitute and make even a basic white T-shirt look more dressed up and put together. They have the feel and comfort that we all want without making it look like we didn’t feel like trying.

Get My Look: 1. Simple black, long-sleeve shirt. 2. Patterned shorts of your choice. 3. A statement necklace.
