STYLE GURU STYLE: Double The Detail

When you picture yourself at the beach you envision an outfit that is light, colorful and fun. The clothes you pack with you slip on and off with ease so you can hop into and out of the water. But this year, instead of your usual family vacation to the beach, you are hopping on a plane to Monaco (where Kim K vacations). Marc Jacobs resort 2016 fashion show is a perfect inspiration for outfit ideas. The collection’s theme seemed to be the detailed embellishments that covered every area of an outfit, including the bags! These pieces are definitely an upgrade from the bright orange family reunion T-shirt that your Aunt Carroll made.

Black is usually an ideal fall and winter color; however, by using embroideries and jewels Marc Jacobs was able to turn a plain black midi skirt into a fun, cut-out summer skirt. My favorite look was a bright red coat with black and white embellishments and embroidery. I loved the black cuff and matching red satchel that the model wore with the coat. I also loved how each model wore dark black eyebrows and a black bandanna-like headpiece.

Using Marc Jacobs resort 2016 fashion show as my muse, I put together my version of a resort ready outfit. Since his collection was full of embellished details I went right for this black embellished skirt. Not only is the style of the skirt flattering, but so is the length and color. For the top, I chose a black crop top with some small embroidered details. To finish off the look I threw on some pointed toe flats that would be easy to slip on and off for walks on the beach. All together, the outfit looks tailored yet relaxed and absolutely perfect for a classy retreat.

Get My Look: 1. An embellished skirt. 2. An embroidered top. 3. A pair of black flats.
