STYLE GURU STYLE: Black and White and Red All Over

As a wannabe New Yorker, I have always had a fascination with the color black. When I go shopping, I am always finding myself picking out dark colored pieces, no matter the season. However, this past summer I discovered how to brighten up my sometimes “too dark” wardrobe by pairing my black and gray pieces with colors like white, burgundy and red. Despite my initial hesitation, I learned how fun mixing colors can truly be; as a person whose style is constantly evolving, this was just me stepping into the next chapter of my own personal style.

I decided to pair one of my new favorite pieces, a black-and-white button-down, with some simple black chinos. I have really been into the cropped pants look when it comes to fashion–after all, as a Houstonian, I try to get any sort of breeze I can in this humidity and heat. To top this look off, I decided to be bold (well, bold for me) and wear my red Vans to add a pop of color to my black-and-white look. Unfortunately, I was not purposely trying to channel Cruella de Vil when I was putting this black, white and red outfit together (but if the glove fits, so be it).

I enjoy bringing some of my favorite trends with me when my style evolves. For me, I will always have a fascination with short-sleeve button-downs and cropped pants; if you see me in a normal T-shirt, I must be having an “off day”. It is always important to stick to your true self, even when you’re changing your style; adapting and evolving are my favorite words in fashion.
