STYLE GURU STYLE: ’80s-Chic

Hello fashionable folks! I am back this month with a little bit of Style Guru style! The show I’m interpreting for you lovely people is the Rodarte fall 2015 ready-to-Wear collection. Interestingly enough the designers at Rodarte, Kate and Laura Mulleavy, talked about color being their inspiration for the show, but it was largely monochromatic. The show had a fantastic ’80s vibe and utilized fantastic juxtaposition of textures. The show also featured an inspiring selection of outerwear which I personally loved.

I interpreted this show in a way that I think takes some of the best elements while also keeping it more wearable for every day. The obvious first piece is this fabulous faux fur coat from Forever 21. Keep an eye out for coats going on sale during the spring so you can snap up an even better deals–although this is already pretty affordable for a fur coat. This coat isn’t quite as fabulous as those featured on the Rodarte runway, but I think this is quite a bit more accessible.

I’ve gone for an achromatic look underneath to keep things from being over the top. A simple bralette adds a bit of visual interest but lets the other pieces do the heavy lifting. This skirt is a H&M sale find but there are so many leather-look skirts on their website I’m sure you can find one that is right up your street! This definitely calls to mind some of the looks on the runway and was the first piece I picked for this look!

A few luxe accessories help to pull this look together. This necklace is from a local boutique, but they have many similar pieces on their website which I would highly recommend taking a look at. I love shopping for jewelry at smaller shops as I feel it really adds individuality to any look. Add your favorite pair of killer heels and you are just about ready to rock the runway yourself!

Here is hoping that your new year is starting off right, I’ll see you soon!
