STYLE GURU BIO: Shannon Kenney

Hi! My name is Shannon Kenney. I’m from Los Angeles and I’ve lived here my entire life. I grew up surrounded by so many people who loved fashion and I just followed in their footsteps. High school was the time I really started to realize that fashion was very important to me and I started to focus on how I wanted to represent myself through the clothing I wore. I love L.A. more than any place I’ve been, maybe because it’s home but I forced myself to leave for college. Wanting to experience a new environment, I decided to venture out to Harrisonburg, Virginia to attend James Madison University. I’m a senior studying art history and Spanish, both of which have always been passions of mine.

Last fall I had the opportunity to study abroad in Salamanca, Spain where I lived with a host family for four months. Traveling around Europe allowed me to discover a whole new fashion culture all while refining my own style. Between the city life in Los Angeles, the small town life in Harrisonburg and all the traveling I’ve done in between, my style has drawn inspiration from all around the world.

I draw a lot of inspiration from Instagram and the people around me whether I’m at home or at school. I never thought that I had a unique sense of fashion until I started school at James Madison University and all of my friends would always tell me how much they loved my style.

All that being said, my style is constantly changing but always tends to remain on the simpler side. On a normal day you’ll probably see me in a white T-shirt paired with either jeans or shorts, and my favorite black Gucci loafers. For this look, I kept things very simple and wore a black mock neck sweater with vintage Levi cut-offs and my Céline purse.

I can’t wait to share all of my fashion interests with all of you!
