STYLE GURU BIO: Rainy Paul

Ciao, Fashionistas and Fashionistos! My name is Rainy Paul, and I could not be more thrilled to be back in action as a returning Style Guru on the sunny campus of the University of San Diego this spring. I am heading into my last semester (*slight panic attack*) where I’ll finish studying my Marketing major. Fashion is an animated language that speaks for itself, and I can’t wait to continue to be inspired by the styles on campus and bring them to life for you.

Winter break is almost over, and the bright, New Year is in full swing.  With ambitious resolutions for 2016 and graduation nearing, I’m ready to pull out a new perspective on personal style. My mantra of the year: be brave, be creative, be you and don’t be afraid to test out different outfit combinations!

Winter neutrals might be my favorite part about winter. The layering of various shades of neutrals creates an alluring look that I just cannot resist. Crisp, clean, monochromatic—what else could I ask for? It’s simple, yet effortlessly chic. The destroyed cream sweater I’m wearing is my new favorite purchase—it is the epitome of cool, casual California and perfect for fall days in San Diego. I paired it with white denim shorts to continue the neutral look. I then wore my ankle wrapped flats, which are a great item to have in your closet, even in the cooler days of December and January. Blush and neutrals are fantastic colors to wear to keep your look fresh and clean.

As you all know, animal prints are my calling, so I couldn’t resist throwing my leopard purse over my shoulder. I jump at the opportunities to wear my leopard purse, shoes or my cheetah coat! I would wear all my prints together if it weren’t socially frowned upon. I then kept my jewelry to a minimum with a gold choker necklace, my watch and chunky bracelets to add a touch of glam to my look.

So if you carry one thing with you into this new year, let it be kindness…and an innovative sense of personal style. Don’t forget to be gracious of your accomplishments, no matter how big or small. Cheers!
