STYLE GURU BIO: Parker Damato

Hello there, Fashionista/os! My name is Parker Damato and I am a sophomore at New York University majoring in media, culture and communications with a minor in studio art. I am stoked to be back for my second semester as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista— the first semester went by so quick that I couldn’t say goodbye just yet!

If you asked me a year ago where I thought my life would be, I would’ve never imagined something like this. Flashback to my first days as a college student, I was overly anxious and nervous and could barely approach someone on the street to compliment their shoes, let alone whole outfit. Present day, I have now spent the most wonderful and exciting year and a half living in New York in the heart of Greenwich Village loving life, having a blast with CollegeFashionista and truly finding my own style while also discovering others’.

Like most of us I came to college as one person and not knowing much about myself or what I wanted to do with my life. Although I am nowhere near fully developed and independent human, I currently find myself as a more grown up and better adapted individual who now has a better grip on college and life. I’ve begun finding my niche and discovering what really interests me.

For anyone the knows me—and now for those that don’t—the word excited isn’t just enough to describe how I feel about this upcoming semester. Imagine the thrill you got as a kid jumping on the bed or getting invited to the coolest kid in your class’s birthday party. Now multiple that feeling by 10. I can’t wait to do what I do best: gawking at stylish people’s outfits and asking them where they got (insert clothing item) from. With living in New York City, the number of people you’ll see on any given day, rain or shine, with unique, interesting and chic outfits is endless. Especially when searching for new ways to style my typical all-black ensembles.
