Hey all. My name is Meghan and I’m starting my sophomore year at NYU as a Film and Television major at Tisch School of the Arts. This is my first semester as a Style Guru and I am truly excited to be given the opportunity to write about fashion! I have always had an interest in fashion both when it comes to expressing myself through what I wear and as an art form in which artists create and inspire using the human form as their canvas. As an aspiring filmmaker, I hope to blend my interests in both film and fashion to one day create fashion films and advertisements.
At NYU I am surrounded by a fast-paced yet beautiful city environment filled with trendsetters, trend followers and those who will never shy away from any fashion statement. Going to school in New York forces people to go to class looking put together and chic and as a major fashion capital, we are surrounded by phenomenal street style.
As for my personal style, I find inspiration everywhere—on the street, in music videos and from labels like Balmain, Yves Saint Laurent, Diesel Black Gold and Versace. You will most likely find me in leather, leopard print, tees with bold prints and statements or a funky pair of heels (sometimes all of the above!) I often find myself pushing the boundaries with what I wear and am ecstatic that in NYC my style fits right in (as opposed to my suburban high school!)
When I’m not in class you’ll find me working, either on a film shoot for school or at a modeling job, running around Meatpacking at night with my friends, enjoying Indian food in the East Village or relaxing with a chai latte at The Bean.
Now that you know a little bit about me and my campus, I hope you know how much I look forward to tracking down NYU’s best dressed for the FASHIONISTA/O SPOTLIGHT! I hope everyone is as excited as I am for a fun and fashionable fall semester!
