Hello fellow Fashionistas/os! My name is Lauren Snyder and I am a sophomore Marketing major at Temple University. I am thrilled to join the CollegeFashionista team as a Style Guru for the spring semester. I will be writing for the WHAT TO WEAR column, delivering advice on how to dress for any and every occasion around campus.
Fashion is about so much more than the clothing. It is a unique form of self-expression that projects your individuality to the world around you. I would describe my personal style as classic with a twist; I am always punching up classic pieces with a fun accessory or trendy garment to create a chic and stylish outfit. I believe Kate Spade said it best: “Playing dress up begins at age five and never truly ends.” Whether it’s girly and sweet, sophisticated and chic or a combination of them all, your style is an extension of yourself — have fun with it.
My interest in fashion began during my early teenage years while thumbing through the pages of Seventeen Magazine, and has manifested itself into a hobby and true passion of mine (my dream is to pursue a career in the industry!) I am constantly interested in learning more about the fashion industry, but more specifically, I am fascinated by the effect that social media has had on it. Blogs and social sharing sites like Pinterest have revolutionized the way we perceive fashion. Let’s be honest, we Fashionistas/os would much rather scour our favorite sartorial fashion blogs for inspiration than browse rigid photos of runway trends. That’s because fashion bloggers offer us something that a runway model can’t: personality. They are real people, living real (and extremely stylish) lives, just like us.
I love that CollegeFashionista emulates this idea, and I am looking forward to bringing you inspiration for what to wear — and when — from the most fabulous and fashionable students around Temple’s campus.
