STYLE GURU BIO: Keri Weitzel

Hello beautiful fashion enthusiasts! My name is Keri Weitzel, and I am a junior studying journalism and apparel merchandising at Indiana University. I am a midwest girl in a New York state of mind. I have big, future plans to live in New York City and be the editor of a fashion magazine, but for now I will be reporting to you from Florence, Italy as I experience a semester abroad! I am so excited to see how the fashion of Italy changes my perspective and grows my style throughout the semester.

I used to be a painfully shy kid and fashion was the one thing that helped me find my voice. I remember getting my first Free People magazine in the mail and flipping through the pages over and over again. “The Free People woman lives free through fashion, art, music, and travel. She is a free spirit, pushing the limits in the name of adventure.” I wanted to do all of those things. Mixing my love for writing and adventure with my love for fashion will always be my passion.

As I grew up I always wanted to push out of the box and try styling myself with items everyone else might not have been wearing. I believe my style is the result of the ’70s and the ’90s meeting up and becoming best friends, and I am always on the hunt for news pieces to add something unique to an outfit. I believe in overalls, I believe in platform shoes and I believe in jumpsuits.

I hope you follow along with me this semester as I explore Europe, but more importantly as I explore the fashion of Europe and how I can intertwine it with my personal style!
