STYLE GURU BIO: Jayden Karr

Hi! My name is Jayden Karr, and I’ve just finished my first semester at Syracuse University. Although I spent a lot of time with my head in the books at the library, I made time to play around with my favorite hobbies: shopping and fashion.

At a young age, I had a hard time figuring out how I wanted to express myself. I always loved fashion, but I never thought of it as a medium to express myself. It wasn’t until my junior year of high school when I finally figured it out and began to experiment with pieces like oversized sweaters and corduroy skirts.

Living on my own this past semester has taught me one thing: laundry sucks. Despite my love of new clothes, getting myself to bring the heavy hamper to the laundry room almost makes me not want any more clothes to wash…but the reality is that there’s always a new package from Urban Outfitters or Free People waiting for me after a long day of classes.

When going to class, I try to keep my look comfortable and stylish. You will most likely find me in black ripped jeans with a sweater and jean jacket over it. I layer not only for fashion reasons but also warmth; it can get cold while walking to class in the snow and cool when sitting in heated classrooms.

The outfit I’m wearing here is my go-to when on vacation (and away from the subzero Syracuse temperatures). Casual, flowy sundresses make great cover-ups but can also be worn when not on the beach. sunglasses are my favorite accessory, so you’ll always catch me in a pair on campus.
