STYLE GURU BIO: Jaclyn Carleton

January 5th, 2016 at 2:00am

Hello my fellow Fashionistas and Fashionistos! My name is Jaclyn, Jaci for short, and I am so excited to be writing for CollegeFashionista for another fun and exciting second semester.

I am finally in my last semester of college at San Diego State University studying business marketing, and I can’t wait to walk across the stage, get my diploma and land my dream job in the fashion industry.

Being a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista has made an incredible impact on my life. In just a few short months, I was featured in an MTV Style article, been a part of the Dove Self-Esteem campaign and even had the opportunity to meet the one and only Amy Levin – founder of CollegeFashionista. CollegeFashionista will forever be a part of my life even after I graduate.

Aside from the obvious interest in fashion, I absolutely love being around my good friends and family, especially those with a witty and sarcastic sense of humor. On the weekends, you can catch me at the local farmers markets picking out pretty flowers or hiking along San Diego’s beach trails.

When I am not out dancing with my girlfriends ‘til the wee hours of the morning, I am most likely curled up in bed binge-watching The Office or re-watching 10 Things I Hate About You—but don’t put it past me to miss out reading a good book either. I can do that for days.

Oh, and have I mentioned how much I am obsessed with dogs? If you don’t already know, which quite frankly is hard to believe, my obsession with my Golden Retriever, Bella, is still going strong. I don’t see that changing anytime soon.

Now back to fashion. One of my favorite fashion inspirations is Kate Bosworth. Her sense of style influences my own on a day-to-day basis: simple, girly but edgy. So what is my “go-to outfit”? A classic T-shirt, skinny jeans and pop of colored lips usually does the trick. This striped T-shirt from Zara and high-waisted ripped skinny jeans is layered with a leather moto jacket,  staple piece every Fashionista must have in her closet. A pair of funky black booties helps pull this look together and is an essential shoe for every day.

To finish off my look, I accessorize with a black fedora along with a silver statement necklace and Alex and Ani charm bracelets.

Looking forward to a fashion-filled 2016!
