STYLE GURU BIO: Daniah Bawazir

I’m super happy to be a part of the madness with CollegeFashionista! Being my first semester with CF, I’m most excited to meet people and delve into the minds of fashion-loving students, exploring how they got their inspiration for a look, and the thought process behind it. I’m 21, and currently in the middle of my second year at the University of Cincinnati. I’m studying English and journalism, but I’ve recently been mulling over the idea of adding fashion to that list. I can’t wait to incorporate my love of writing with my admiration of fashion, and I’m beyond thrilled that I get to share it with you!

Up until a couple months ago, I had zero idea of what I wanted to spend my time doing. I was having trouble pinpointing a specific hobby that didn’t apply to almost everyone else; hanging with friends and family, traveling, etc. Not knowing what your talents are leaves the average person almost struggling with their identity. I’ve always known I wanted to be a part of the fashion industry somehow, I just didn’t know where exactly I would fit in. Mesmerized by fashion sketches, and the creativity that comes with it, I started longing for the ability to do that myself. I eventually spent three or four days straight learning how to sketch, until I was comfortable enough to try and start on my own designs. I’m so intrigued with the endless amount of ideas that one can create, and I love how original and unique every sketch is.

Being surrounded by water always succeeds in making me feel content and calm, it’s the best medicine for the heart and head! But the mountains will always win with me. There’s something so surreal and captivating about being up so high, making the world seem quiet and peaceful. Bodies of water, and mountains, whether they’re snowcapped or never-ending peaks of green, are basically the only times I won’t give any thought to my wardrobe.

I’ve learned to be confident in how I dress, and have strayed away from the “safe outfits”, as it’s an expression of who I am. Style says a lot about a person, and it’s how we choose to portray ourselves. I chose to go for a calmer look here with a statement in each article of clothing. I love the edge this similar belt gives off, and it pairs perfectly with black ripped jeans. The style of the top I’ve thrown on adds character to an otherwise simple outfit, while a cozy cardigan keeps me warm. If you know me at all, you’ll know I can’t resist topping an outfit off with a pair of booties!

I can’t wait to share more and see what the rest of the CollegeFashionista community is going to throw out there!
