STYLE GURU BIO: Courtney Pelot

January 6th, 2015 at 2:00am

I’m thrilled to be returning for my fifth semester with CollegeFashionista! When I wrote my very first STYLE GURU BIO, I never imagined how rewarding this experience would be. I love scouring the streets for the most fashionable students on campus and meeting fabulous Fashionistas/os along the way who share the same passion for fashion as myself. One of my favorite parts of my week is when I get to sit down for a few hours and escape my textbook readings to write my weekly post. I also love having monthly meetings with the huge group of Style Gurus on my campus. Whether we’re simply catching up over steaming lattes or discussing our next initiative while devouring plates of pancakes and eggs, I always enjoy the time spent with these fashion-forward ladies.

When I’m not hunting for eye-catching style or working on coursework in my favorite coffee shop, I probably have my nose in a fashion magazine or cursor on a pair of heels while online shopping on ASOS. I’m Sex and the City obsessed and own a script necklace that reads “Courtney” similar to Carrie’s. (I’m still on the hunt for the perfect Carrie Bradshaw-inspired white tulle skirt). I can recite every word of The Devil Wears Prada to you and probably love Frozen just as much as a five year-old girl. I’m waiting for the day I get a noise complaint for singing “Let It Go” around my apartment while getting ready in the morning. I’m also a huge social media geek and am typically on Twitter or Instagram at any given moment.

Over the past few semesters, I have witnessed my style evolve quite a bit. I am constantly taking fashion risks, whether it be just for a lecture or a dinner out with the girls. This past fall, I really got into the red-hot ‘90s trend. I even found a black tattoo choker necklace from NASTY GAL similar to the one I wore every day back in elementary school. I have developed an affection for chic, heeled booties and cozy blanket scarves. While I am definitely not a fan of cold, snowy winters, the weather is the perfect excuse to pull out my favorite fluffy coats and oversized fur vests. After months of searching for the perfect leather pencil skirt, I was overjoyed to find one underneath the Christmas tree this past December. I look forward to pairing my leather skirt with simple crop tops, oversized sweaters and chic fur vests all season long. When it comes to winter hair and makeup, I’m quick to take advantage of the frizz-free, no sweat days by opting for a sleek, straight hairstyle and my go-to NARS red lipstick.

After the short holiday break, I can’t wait to get back to hunting the Madison streets for the best looks on campus. Lets make this semester the raddest yet!
