STYLE GURU BIO: Amanda Marino

I’m Amanda but I regularly go by the nicknames Mands or Pandy. I live by the quotes “they would not have attained the possible unless time and again they had reached out for the impossible” and “shoot for the moon, if you miss you will land among the stars.” To me these quotes represent the idea that even if you are shooting for the impossiblethe moon. If you fail to reach it, the things that actually do cross you will be amazingyou will still be among stars. This is how I live my life: I aim for the impossible.

Fashion and personal style have always been an outlet for self-expression. I have been a shopaholic since I was young. To this day, I am consistently envisioning outfits and on the hunt to find and purchase what I have thought up. My style is constantly changing and adapting to how I feel or how I want to feel on that day. One day I will unleash my inner punk rocker and the next day I will be a bohemian princess. I believe that the ability to constantly change, while pushing creative boundaries, is what makes fashion so amazing.

This season, I have embraced the saying “black is the new black.” My go-to pieces for this mild winter include high-waisted, thrifted mom jeans, longline blazers or trench coats, booties, big tote bags and the blast from the past statement necklace, the choker.

Currently, I am in my last year studying for a Biology and Business degree. As a science major, it has been difficult to come across opportunities in the fashion industry, so I have had to make my own. About a year ago, I launched a personal style and lifestyle blog, PANDYMARINOBLOG, a place where I can channel my passion. It has been very successful and has lead me to other opportunities with amazing organizations such as CollegeFashionista. I am the only Style Guru at Wilfrid Laurier University and I can’t wait to find and give acknowledgement to the creative individuals that find their expression through fashion and style!
