STYLE GURU BIO: Alyssa Waterman

Hey there fashion lovers! This is my first semester on the CollegeFashionista team, and I am so excited! Let me tell you all a little bit about myself before I share my fashion advice and tips.

My name is Alyssa Waterman and I am a sophomore majoring in Communications and minoring in Counseling at the University at Buffalo in New York. Buffalo is a diverse college town that consists of two campuses. The diversity is within cultures, fashion and even food. As everyone knows Buffalo is known for their wings (and they are amazing) but there is so much more that Buffalo has to offer. If you were to walk across the North and South campuses, you see that there are many different fashion trends that are occurring as we speak. At a school of 30,000 undergraduate students you are bound to see people with all different fashion senses.

My fashion sense has drastically changed from elementary school to now. I used to just throw on whatever I could find but now I take the time to be thoughtful and find the perfect outfit. It is like Harry Winston said, “People will stare. Make it worth their while.” I believe that your fashion style is a way to free yourself creatively. Personally, I change my outfit in the morning about a million times. Is that just a girl thing? It is like when boys say that girls take a much longer time to get ready than they do. Yes boys, we need a lot of time to make ourselves look the way we want, and the case may be that we change our outfit multiple times. Let’s face it, if you walk by someone odds are they are staring. They are probably staring you up and down, looking at your outfit, and yes making an assumption as to who they think you are. We need to remember that fashion allows us to be any person we want to be.

I look forward to showing off all of the fashion at UB! Hopefully I can inspire others with some new ideas to enhance their style. My posts will feature many cozy styles that can make the frigid winter weather a little bit more bearable. Get excited for my monthly posts!
