STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Why Accessories Matter

As July begins, the summer heat rises and, on many days, it may be tempting to step outside in cut-off shorts and a crop top (typical). However, for internships or any event outside of a night out with friends, more appropriate clothing should be worn. It’s still possible to throw on an outfit that isn’t shorts and a T-shirt, and still be trendy.

This Fashionista stuck with simple pieces to bring together a casual-chic look for her internship. I constantly emphasize the importance of simplicity during the summer because it means so much. Various layers and elaborate outfits are for the cooler months; have fun with fur and color blocking layers in other seasons. Summer is for simplicity and accessories.

Rocking a bright lip with fun shaped, oversized sunglasses, this Fashionista proved that these accessories are enough to touch up any simple piece. This effortless outfit consisted of a ribbed bardot top; it has long sleeves, but is stylish and light enough to not be too hot. Printed palazzo pants were added to the ribbed top for a sense of color. However, simplicity was still the theme throughout the outfit. The breezy feel and look of palazzo pants is the perfect summer pant, especially for simple, fast looks. The arm cuff added a finishing touch to the Fashionista’s look, giving it a chic vibe.

Ribbed material during the summertime is easy to style and often very comfortable. If you think pants paired with a top is too much, then just try a ribbed dress and add the same accessories as this Fashionista. This look proved that accessories could bring simple pieces to life and make an outfit.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “In the summer, it’s important to make simple go a long way. It may get too hot for layers, so you have to make it work with a simple top and bottom. Always dress it up with trendy accessories and, of course, a fun lip!”
