Once spring is in full swing, the best way to celebrate is by wearing neutral colors. Put away your blacks and dark colored cashmere sweaters and wool coats. It’s time to bring out your white, beige and light pink jackets and pants.
Neutrals are and will always be appropriate for spring, summer and sometimes even early fall. For the next six or so months, most, if not all, of your outfits should have a light color incorporated in them. You can wear a neutral colored outfit to weddings, barbecues, luncheons, parties and the list goes on and on.
If you want to add a little color to your outfit, you can follow in this Fashionista’s footsteps and wear a light colored pant that goes with any shade of tan, white or other color. You can get a pair of light blue or pink skinny jeans at LOFT. Armani Jeans also has a cute pair of slim stretch cotton light pink jeans.
A white lightweight jacket, or anorak, like this Fashionista is sporting is practical for spring because it goes with everything. Also, the light color will keep you cooler in the heat of the sun than a darker color would. This Fashionista got her white anorak from Madewell. Anoraks are the best option for windy days and for going into air-conditioned stores and residences because they are so lightweight. They are easy to carry and you will not overheat in them, unless perhaps you choose to wear one under the sun in 100 degree weather.
The next best light colored item you can invest in is a plain white cotton tee like this Fashionista is wearing. A white cotton or jersey V-neck can be very inexpensive, and Hanes has one that is soft and comfortable. I cannot stress it enough that you will end up wearing this weekly, or even daily. From yoga to a museum to a luncheon, a white V-neck will be appropriate for any occasion.
Have fun wearing light colors this spring. Sometimes it is nice to take a break from wearing bold floral prints and wear something neutral. And you will not regret buying a white anorak and a white cotton V-neck, trust me on that one. These are two things that you will wear for the rest of your life.
