STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Maximizing Minimalism

The new year has arrived which means: new goals, new memories and most importantly—revamped closets. One of my favorite trends is minimalist outfits. You’ve seen it everywhere: monochromatic looks, simple yet striking silhouettes and architectural pieces. I have tried to achieve this look for my everyday aesthetic and I think it’s going to be a trend I will religiously follow for my look.

When I think of this trend, I think of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen being photographed in their infamous attire. Clean, yet comfortable structured looks. I also love seeing people create unexpected proportions (wearing over-sized tops with culottes, for example).

My main focus when trying to accomplish the minimalist trend is comfort and being polished. If you are trying to get your closet to look like it came straight off of The Row’s runway, stick a color palette of two to three colors (such as blacks, dark blues, whites and grays). Think of this as your personal branding and it’ll help you put together amazing outfits for this winter.

So, how do you achieve the minimalist look? This Fashionista’s outfit is the perfect example. Pairing a cowl neck sweater dress with a black jacket made her outfit look simple yet chic. The leather baseball cap was the icing on the cake. To complete her look, she rocked fabulous Chanel sunglasses which definitely turned heads.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “When putting together these looks, think less is more. Simplicity goes a long way and you will end up looking chicer when you stick to clean, comfortable and structured looks.”
