BEAUTY BAR: When In Doubt, Braid It Out

Being a college student, you know all too well that life changes in the blink of an eye. One minute you are laying on the couch in sweatpants and, the next minute, your roommate walks in and invites you to a party that starts in five minutes. Or you have somehow hit that snooze button one too many times and now you have less than 10 minutes to get ready for class. Schedules are almost useless in college. Life is unexpected most of the time, so how do you prepare your look?

Sometimes you truly only have five minutes to get ready. In that game-time decision, you have to decide whether you are going to use your limited time for picking out an outfit, or doing your hair and makeup. I am definitely guilty of focusing on my hair and makeup and choosing to throw on a hoodie and leggings for my outfit. Recently, however, I’ve tried to focus on picking out a decent outfit and doing quick hair and makeup. This Fashionista executed both perfectly. She is wearing a simple white sweater with cutouts, jeans, ankle boots and a simple necklace. She braided a quick hairline braid into a ponytail and looks poised and put-together as ever.

What’s on the BEAUTY BAR? To achieve this simple hair trend, you only need three thing: 1) a teasing comb, 2) hairspray and 3) grip hair elastics. Start by french-braiding three strands of hair at the beginning of your side part. Continue the braid until it is long enough to reach where your ponytail will be. Grab your teasing comb and proceed to tease the crown of your head and hairspray it down. Form a ponytail including the braid and secure with a grip elastic. Lightly hairspray the whole head again and you are good to go! This beauty trend perfectly pairs with any outfit and it is quick enough to do when you have a spilt second to get ready and will last the entire day!
