WHAT TO WEAR: Brunch

What to Wear

By now, your schedule is probably on a roll and you’re starting to create a daily routine that works for you. Perhaps you’ve been able to squeeze a coffee run in the morning followed by several classes, a gym session, work, another coffee run and a few errands. If you’re lucky enough to even have time to breathe, you might even remember to squeeze in what I consider the most important meal of the day: brunch!

Brunch isn’t just a time to eat (you know, when you skipped over breakfast and are too hungry to wait until the afternoon) — it’s a time to catch up and slow down with friends you may otherwise almost never see throughout your week. Any occasion I get to reunite with friends is a good enough excuse for me to pull out a cheery ensemble and this Fashionista shows there’s nothing better than a casual, floral dress for such occasions.

Centering her outfit around her dress, she layered on a light, striped button-down and comfy, cross-leather flats. She finished her look with feather earrings, a couple of bangles and a bright nail polish, letting her friends know she’s got time for fashion head-to-toe. When picking out your brunch outfit, think fashion and comfort (but more fashion). Go for a chic, versatile dress like this one from rag & bone. At first glance, this structured dress may seem a little less comfortable than your trusty, cotton maxi — but wait! Read carefully and you’ll see it’s actually made of a cotton-lycra blend — practically as comfortable as your pajamas! Now, isn’t it great reading what clothes are made of? Pair your dress with a pair of nude flats and if it’s chilly, a light cardigan to pull it together.

ONE SIMPLE CHANGE: For a fancier get-together, switch out your short dress and impress your friends with a lengthier version. A floral pencil dress like this one from ASOS is fun and classic. It’s also a dress you could reuse over and over for any special occasions you may come across. The number of ways you could wear it are endless.
