STYLE GURU STYLE: Pardon My French

Piles and piles of T-shirts fill the inside of my armoire, and tend to fall on me whenever I pull on the doorknob. They’re one of my guilty pleasures that I just have to purchase when one catches my eye in a store, but I rarely get enough use out of them to correlate with the amount I have. I always feel as if I look a little bit disheveled when I wear one outside of my house, as I have not yet mastered pulling off the “I Woke Up Like This” look.

I found inspiration to put my T-shirt collection into use from the alice + olivia spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection. I was really drawn to the bold colors and the mixing of prints, and wanted to put my own spin on it in a little more of a casual, street style way. The funky, eye-catching mini skirts used in the collection is what inspired me to break out my own. I love that it is the perfect combination of stripes and florals. I left it simple on top with my navy long-sleeved graphic T-shirt, but let the bottom half of the outfit do the talking.

Along with my printed mini skirt, I wanted to achieve another key piece of the alice + olivia spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection into my outfit. I decided a pop of color was necessary, which was exactly what Stacey Bendet had in mind as well. With my bright yellow Superga sneakers and my equally as bright statement necklace, I channeled the trendiness and boldness of the collection in my own unique way, while still figuring out a way to incorporate one of the T-shirts from my ever-growing assortment. The shapes and colors in the statement necklace reminded me of the different geometric shapes seen in some of the jackets and tops in the alice + olivia spring 2015 collection. I love how it perfectly complemented my sneakers. A sneaker this color is a great investment piece. It may not be a color one would usually go for, but it adds the perfect pop to every outfit without fighting for attention.

Get My Look: 1. Any graphic T-shirt. 2. A bright pair of sneakers. 3. A mini skirt.
